PRIMALOFT®: TECH MADE FOR THE COLD

All BUFF® Safety products for protection against cold hazards are breathable and have excellent thermoregulation properties. The inner fleece layer provides extra warm protection against the cold. ThermoNet®, a top tech innovation by BUFF®, is an in-house developed fabric that brings together the knitting tradition with technical yarns from partners at PrimaLoft®, resulting in extremely thin, lightweight fabric that retains body heat while wicking moisture away. Similarly, 100% Merino wool Multifunctional Neckwear offers high versatility, comfort, and absorption capacity.
The polar fleece fabric from the Polar, Polar Neck warmer, Polar Hat, Knitted & Polar Hat and Polar Balaclava families has been tested and complies with the thermal resistance (RCT) and air permeability (AP) standards under UNE-EN 14058:2017 regarding “Protective clothing – Garments for protection against cold environments,” obtaining a performance level of RCT class 1, and AP class 1 (AP>100).

COLD STRESS AND HYPOTHERMIA PREVENTION

Many occupations risk serious cold-related injuries and illnesses caused by working in cold weather, or spending a significant part of their workday in artificially cold environments. Construction, postal and delivery service, parks maintenance, utility and telecommunication workers, police, army, and others are often exposed to cold outdoor temperatures, while food processing and cold room, and storage industry workers are at risk of cold stress indoors.
Cold-related hazards include but are not limited to face chilblains, numbness, and severe heat loss that can lead to frostbite and hypothermia. Symptoms of hypothermia vary depending on the length of exposure to the cold temperatures – shivering, fatigue, loss of coordination, confusion, disorientation, and loss of consciousness – all of which are highly dangerous.
